Ingredients:

- 2 tablespoons olive oil

- 4 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 small onion, finely chopped

- 1 can (14 ounces/400g) diced tomatoes

- 1 teaspoon dried basil

- 1 teaspoon dried oregano

- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

- Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:


1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (cooked but still firm to the bite). Drain the pasta and set aside.


2. Prepare the sauce: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Add the chopped onion and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.


3. Add the tomatoes and seasonings: Pour the diced tomatoes into the skillet with the garlic and onion. Stir in the dried basil, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.


4. Combine the sauce and pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Toss the pasta gently with the sauce, ensuring that it's evenly coated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let the flavors combine.


5. Serve: Transfer the pasta to serving plates or bowls. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves (if desired). Serve hot and enjoy!
