Recipe for making Costco-style churros at home:


Ingredients:


- 1 cup water

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 3 large eggs

- Vegetable oil, for frying

- Cinnamon sugar mixture (1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon), for coating


Instructions:

1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and granulated sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the butter is completely melted.


2. Reduce the heat to low and add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Continue stirring for an additional 1-2 minutes to cook the flour.


3. Remove the pan from heat and let the dough cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. The dough will become sticky and slightly shiny.


4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).


5. Fill a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (or a ziplock bag with a corner cut off) with the churro dough.


6. Pipe 4-6 inch long churros directly into the hot oil, using scissors or a knife to cut the dough from the piping bag. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.


7. Fry the churros for about 3-4 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they become golden brown and crispy. Fry them in batches, if necessary.


8. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the churros from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.


9. While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until they are evenly coated.


10. Serve the churros warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as chocolate sauce or caramel sauce.
