butter bread

Recipe for homemade butter bread:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm milk (around 110°F or 43°C)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Extra butter for greasing the pan and brushing the top

Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well.

2. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the warm milk and melted butter.

3. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon or your hands until it comes together into a rough dough.

4. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment for kneading.

5. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release the air. Transfer it back onto the floured surface and knead it for another minute.

7. Grease a bread pan with butter or cooking spray. Shape the dough into a loaf shape and place it into the prepared pan. Cover the pan with the towel or plastic wrap and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until it rises above the rim of the pan.

8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.

9. Once the dough has risen again, remove the towel or plastic wrap and bake the bread in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

10. Remove the bread from the oven and immediately brush the top with melted butter to give it a glossy finish.

11. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Enjoy your homemade butter bread! It's great for sandwiches, toast, or simply enjoyed with some butter or jam.
